The Ukraine will extend its motorway network over the coming years. These projects will be financed from income from the tax on oil. This was announced by Boris Kolesnikov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Ukrainian Infrastructure a few days ago. This development is intended to match European standards. Not least, it's about making a good impression as a transit country to the coming Football World Cup in Russia in 2018.
In order to implement the planned measures, an increase in fuel tax is planned. The orientation is in the direction of the North European highway model. A road toll is not being considered.
The first motorway segment leads from the west (Krakovets) to the east (Uspenka). The distance is approx. 1400 kilometres. Other segments are in planning.
