Positive signs for trade between Belarus and non-CIS states
On the 30.09.2011, the Byelorussian statistics committee announced the country's foreign trade figures. After a business drought in 2010, (including the period from January to August), the eastern European state can take pleasure in a positive balance of foreign trade with the countries outside of the CIS.
Trade with the countries outside the CIS amassed a profit of 972.4 million USD. The corresponding period last year was marked with a deficit of 1.11 billion USD.
This means that Belarus exported 1.9 times more during the first eight months of 2011 than the corresponding period the year before with the abovementioned states.
Exports within the CIS also rose in comparison with the previous year, by a whopping 52.7%. The country's imports rose by 44.6% to a total of 17,767 billion USD.
