German exports take a breather
Following a strong push upwards in September, Germany’s exports are taking a bit of a breather.

According to the Federal Office of Statistics in Wiesbaden, the level of exports in October sank about 1.1% compared to the previous month. As a comparison, imports rose by 0.3%.
However, these figures cancel one another out if one compares them to those of 2009, the crisis year. In direct contrast to 2009, Germany's exports increased by about 19.8%, and goods and services provision by a whopping 21.0%, compared with the year before.

All together in October, German industry exported a total value of goods worth 86.8 billion Euro. That is more than in the first 10 months of 2008, before the crisis, said a spokesperson from the Statistics Office.

Nevertheless, these export values easily lie under this year's September high of 86.9 billion Euros. This value corresponds to the highest value seen since October 2008. However, the October decline should to be evaluated, according to analysts from the Commerzbank, as a mere lapse. German foreign trade, including the country's transportation industry, will also contribute to the growth of the German economy in the last quarter of 2010.

These figures therefore indicate a good order situation in the goods traffic sector. In particular, long-distance international traffic is calculated according to a higher order volume. According to a statement by Mr. Anton F. Boerner, the President of the German Foreign Trade Association, German companies profit specifically from the weak Euro, as well as from the boom in Asia. Moreover, he also mentioned that German exports are still more than just competitive.
