Freight transport holiday ban is in effect
This year in Germany and some other European countries, an extra ban on freight transport on important motorways and other main roads has been brought into effect during the tourist season.

Lorries that exceed a total weight of 7.5 tons, or those travelling with trailers, are not allowed to drive on any Saturday between the hours of 7am until 8pm during the months of July and August. The ban that is already in effect, limiting trucks travelling at weekends (Sundays from midnight to 10pm) remains in force.

Austria is also extending its freight transport ban from the year-round weekend ban, which comes into effect every weekend from Saturday at 3pm until Sunday at 10pm. The A 12  Inntal motorway (from the border at Kufstein to Zams) and the A 13 Brenner motorway (Innsbruck-South to Brenner) are closed to lorries every Saturday from the 2nd of July until the 27th of August from 9am until 3pm, if the destination is in Italy.

During the tourist season in Italy, a freight transport ban is in force every Saturday in July and August from 7am until 11pm, as well as on Friday the 29th of July, and the 5th and 12th of August, from 4pm until midnight. There is additionally a night driving ban in Tyrol between 10pm and 5am.
