An agreement has been reached: The field tests for the controversial 25.25m truck are about to start. Exactly half of the states voted against this proposal. The remaining countries will allow the tests to be carried out this autumn on German roads. The North Rhine-Westphalian traffic minister Harry Voigtsberger said that he does not expect that the extended-length trucks are a solution for the transport sector.
Traffic jams for miles and endless road works on the motorways are only two of countless obstacles which these vehicles would have to master. However, a final decision is not expected for the time being.
