Since 20.09.2010, the use and the installation of digital tachographs is compulsory, even in 22 non-EU countries. This regulation is valid for
forwarding agency enterprises which transport goods and wares internationally.
This announcement was made by the EU commission and is a part of "the European arrangements regarding traffic and driver working regulations“ (AETR).
According to the statement made by the EU commission, the safety and the competition within the AETR member states will thereby be considerably improved.
The digital tachograph is additionally, since 20.09.2010, compulsory in the following countries:

- Andorra
- Armenia
- Azerbaijan
- Bosnia Herzegovina
- Kazakhstan
- Croatia
- Liechtenstein
- Macedonia
- Moldavia
- Monaco
- Montenegro
- Norway
- Russian Federation
- San Marino
- Switzerland
- Serbia
- Turkey
- Turkmenistan
- Ukraine
- Uzbekistan
