In the Polish city of Łańcut, the transport ministers from seven European countries signed a common policy with regard to the construction of the so-called Via Carpatia.
This transit route goes from Klaipeda in Lithuania, via Košice and Sofia, to Thessalonica in Greece. Countries taking part in the construction programme are Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece.
The aim is to create the shortest route south from northern Europe.
